(Master graduation,  PDF 31

Principle

Master studies are terminated by 2 events:

Presentation Master thesis
poster exhibition/ graduation
Internal event: parallel group colloquia or on Institute level, for expert audience Public event
Organized twice a year in week 27 and 48 Once a year in week 11
Graded by examiner and co-examiner,  constitutes 20% of overall grading of Master thesis. Poster is not graded.

The poster exhibition/graduation is the prominent event. It aims to demonstrate to the public the competence and the wide range of knowledge the graduates have acquired at the Department of Agricultural and Food Sciences.

Cycle Master thesis

Regulations stipulate the following:

As soon as the 90 CP have been obtained, application for a Master’s degree can be made to the Sekretariat, where it is checked and the certificates printed (in German and English) and then forwarded to the rectory. The rectory issues diplomas periodically (approx. twice/semester). Upon demand the Sekretariat prints an actual status report, stamps and signs it. It is an acceptable to complete the documentation for job applications.

The date for the parallel presentations on Master thesis topics are defined by the Department. Each student presents facts and figures available at the moment to an expert audience. The presentation is autonomously worked out by the student. Since future employers expect our graduates to have the skills to appear in public, the presentation counts for 20% of the overall grading of the Master thesis.
