Basic studies I and II (112 C)

The first two years of the course offer basic studies in mathematics / natural sciences, technology and social sciences.

The disciplinary basic subjects are Mathematics, Chemistry / Microbiology, Physics, Biology, Information Technology and an introduction to Law and Economics. In Chemistry, Physics, Biology and Microbiology theoretical studies are supplemented by practicals.

The technology studies provide basic knowledge in systematic problem-solving methods and the analysis and evaluation of environmentally friendly technologies. The approach is very practice-oriented and comprises a case study in the 1st semester.

Introductory studies on Earth and Production Systems - or alternatively the lecture course Dynamic Earth I, which is oriented towards earth sciences - as well as the systems of Atmosphere, Hydrosphere, Pedosphere and Anthroposphere provide a first insight into the characteristics and processes of environmental systems.
