Atmosphere and Climate

Successful candidates in this Major programme will

• acquire an in-depth understanding of the present atmospheric and climate system and of the paleoclimate, as well as of interactions with the hydrosphere, cryosphere, pedosphere, biosphere and anthroposphere;
• comprehend the physical, chemical and biological background and apply theoretical descriptions, both allowing a quantification of atmospheric and climatic processes and phenomena;
• be able to design and (statistically and deterministically) analyse field and laboratory experiments;
• learn how to numerically model the observed systems including prediction and reanalysis.

After acquiring the Master of Science degree candidates may continue their research in a doctorate or apply for positions in public service (in the departments of weather, climate, air quality, hydrology etc.) or for higher positions in companies or industry.
