Work experience plan

The work experience plan can be compared with a job description in working life. You and the company will work out the details together. It is know from experience that it is wise from the outset to define the project as precisely as possible and which shall be binding.

Submit the work experience plan as early as possible to the practical advisor. This ensures that uncertainties can be clarified and, if necessary, modifications made. The work experience plan must be submitted at the latest at the beginning of the second week of the practical, otherwise the time already invested will not be taken into account.

The work experience plan should contain the following points:

1. Trainee: Name und address before and during the practical, phone number, e-mail address
2. Company offering placement: Address, phone and fax numbers, e-mail and URL addresses, etc.,
3. Duration: exact dates,
4. Responsible supervisor(s) in the company,
5. Lecturer from the Department of Environmental Systems Science / the ETH Zurich,
6. Project(s) description (possibly as attachment) and
7. Description of planned tasks.
8. Signature as approval

Lecturer (see point 5)

The work experience will be supported by a lecturer from the Department of Environmental Systems Science / the ETH Zurich. Choose the supervising lecturer on the basis of your project topic. The level of support depends on the project, your requirements and the commitment of the lecturer. The supervision comprises:

• Examination and signed authorization of the practical plan,
• Visiting you at your placement in Switzerland and
• Evaluation of your report with final discussion.

Approval of the work experience plan

Signatures should be obtained in the following order:

1. Supporting person in the company and trainee, who sends the work experience plan to:
2. The practical advisor, who forwards it to:
3. The lecturer.

After being signed, the plan is returned to you.

 

The signatures of the lecturer and the practical advisor are considered as approval of the project. This is a condition for the performance assessment of the work experience.
