The specialist journal «Top Agrar» awarded the prize to Director of Studies Professor Achim Walter last Thursday. A total of 28 universities were included in the ranking, and 10 certificates of excellence were given out. The ETH degree programme in Agricultural Sciences was the only prize winner outside of Germany.

More than 5,000 students from Germany, Austria and Switzerland took part in Top Agrar’s fifth international agricultural ranking. This is equivalent to one in every four prospective agricultural sciences academics from German-speaking countries.

Students also evaluated their degree courses at ETH and the School of Agricultural, Forest and Food Sciences (HAFL), Zollikofen in a survey for the «LANDfreund» magazine. While ETH students placed the fundamentals and teaching of plant sciences in top position, HAFL students rated practical application and expertise in agricultural engineering very highly. A total of 80% of the students interviewed would recommend ETH and HAFL as a training ground for the agricultural sector.
