How a Swiss company is trying to slow climate change
Filtering the greenhouse gas CO₂ directly from the air could play an increasingly important role in climate protection. NBC nightly news took a look at the first commercial plant in Hinwil near Zurich.
The new plant represents an important development in the fight against climate change, thinks Nicolas Gruber, Professor of Environmental Physics at the Institute of Biogeochemistry and Pollutant Dynamics. «But it would be wrong to think that this will be the silver bullet», he clarifies. In view of the performance of such a filter system, it clearly cannot be more than ’one piece of many pieces’.
