Master’s degree and Graduation ceremony
Degree request
Before requesting the issuing of your Master's diploma, you must have obtained a minimum of 120 credits as described in the Programme regulations. Provided you have satisfied all the requirements, you can request the diploma via myStudies. How can I submit the degree request?
Final academic record
All graduates are given a final academic record. The final academic record lists those courses for which the student selects the option “Academic record” in their degree request, up to a maximum of 130 credits. On request (option “Addendum”), other study achievements can be listed on a separate sheet accompanying the academic record. Study achievements marked with “Nowhere” on the request will disappear from the academic record entirely.
The final academic record lists your major and any minors by name.
The overall average grade is calculated as the weighted mean of the individual grades on the academic record. The weight attached to each individual grade is based on the number of credits assigned to the course to which it relates. The grade for the Master’s thesis is weighted with 30.
Your ranking in your year of graduation (in comparison with other graduates who have received their final academic record over the last 11 months) is based on your overall average grade.
Along with their final academic record, graduates also receive an English “transcript of records”.
Degree certificate
Graduates receive a degree certificate (optionally in German, French or Italian) and a Diploma Supplement. The Diploma Supplement describes the courses you attended in English during your Master’s degree programme – and also, in German, the German-language courses. Your degree certificate will only mention your major.
A certified translation of the original certificate can be provided in German, French, Italian or English. ETH does not offer translations into other languages. You can order it via Webshop of Academic Services.
Academic title
The Master’s degree entitles students to use the following academic title: Master of Science ETH in Agricultural Sciences (for short: MSc ETH Agr)
The academic title in German: Master of Science ETH in Agrarwissenschaften (for short: MSc ETH Agr).
The Master's degree graduation ceremony takes place in calendar week 11 or 12 (in 2024 exceptionally in the calendar week 16). It consists of a poster exhibition and the ceremony.
