Dr. Hubert Pausch (*1984) is currently research fellow at the Centre for AgriBiosciences in Bundoora, Australia and will commence his work as Tenure Track Assistant Professor of Animal Genomics at the Institute of Agricultural Sciences (IAS) in May 2017. Dr. Pausch has developed statistical and bioinformatic methods for combining sequence data from key animals in a population with incomplete data from animals from the genomic selection. Using cattle as an example, he has successfully identified alternative forms of a gene (alleles) which have economic and health-related effects.

The H. Wilhelm Schaumann Foundation supports outstanding research projects predominantly from young scientists, mainly in the field of animal and agricultural sciences. The Prize of € 10.000 will be presented by the Foundation’s Committee on September 20 in Hohenheim, Germany.
